Powerbands are an absolute essential in rugby training.
Not only are resistance bands great for warm ups, conditioning, rehab and prehab, they also make a great alternative for weights. Perfect for newbies and seasoned rugby players, these bands can be used with or without weights.
These clever bands will safely and effectively increase the intensity of isometric movements to build joint strength, as well as dynamic exercises. Try adding a light band to your explosive movements, such as bench press or squats, to add a little resistance during concentric movement. Simply loop a band around each end of your bar for added challenge and power progression. By intensifying the weight you also burn more calories, boost cardio stamina and increase muscular endurance.
Power Bands will further help to strengthen and tone a wide variety of muscles including the biceps, triceps, deltoids, pectorals, rhomboids, latissimus dorsi, quads, calves, hamstrings, glutes and abdominals. Almost any part of the body can be trained with a resistance band.
EXERCISE SUPPORT
Power bands can be a great help to start with exercises you are not able to do on your own yet. You can use these bands for pull-ups or chin-ups to give you additional support while you’re building your strength up. Progressively you can change the bands for thinner levels until you are able to perform the exercise without any support.
EXERCISES WITH POWER BANDS ON THEIR OWN
Power bands on their own can be used for a wide variety of exercises that engage different muscle groups in your body. By training all of your muscle groups you can to improve contact preparation for the pitch. Some of the resistance band training exercises include: bicep curl, flye, front squat, splitter, press up, squat to overhead press, shoulder press, upright row, tricep extension and cross body reach. They can also be used for skills exercises such as passing, throwing, scrummaging, ruck stability and kicking. Their capabilities are endless!
